High eyeball at Niebüll
A drone shot taken over Niebüll depot in north west Germany where three class 218 diesel hydraulic locomotives are stabled.
The bottom one is 218497 in the striking black and white livery, apparently this livery symbolises the history of the Cottbus railway depot facility from steam locomotive overhauling (black/red) to ICE maintenance (ICE white with red stripes). A pretty cool idea i think.
Behind is a blue example 218055 and behind that one is 218322.
A total of 410 were built between 1968 and 1979 mostly by the Henschel company. Many of the 218s have a sub class number after the 6 identification numbers, this indicates their compatibility, eg the 4 indicates it is fitted with multiple cables for use with the double decker coaches.
