Frozen Smiles

From the way-back machine, an early major snow storm struck the mountains of southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, and depositing about two feet of snow by lunch time. The heavy snow made the air stone quiet, except for the steady cadence of the steam engine pulling the train. Most of the passengers riding the train were not prepared for the experience of riding unheated cars with a temperature in the F20s. Yet, just about every one of them still had some of the biggest grins and smiles on their faces. Especially when they would see the few of us who had braved the road conditions to drive up the mountain pass to photograph the train.
