Following 30 years of stoic service on the Cross City line through Birmingham the Hunslet Class 323 units are being replaced. The final booked service ran on Saturday 28 September with a farewell tour operating on the 29th.

'Twas a wet Monday morning and another pair of W.M.R. 323's were going off lease leaving just 3 units based at Soho to cover the single remaining diagram on the Cross City line. Right on time 323216 and 323215 made the ascent from Perry Barr to glide through Witton for the final time under their current ownership, 5J70 08:34 Soho L.M.D. to Wolverton Centre Sidings. Farewell.
